December 10, 2021 – January 8, 2022
Opening: Friday, December 10th, 7:00 p.m.
In his first solo exhibition in Cologne, Stefan Tiefengraber creates an immersive space in purist aesthetics with the light kinetic installation rotating lights. With his work he enters into a dialogue with the polygonal architecture typical for the 1970s of the Ebertplatzpassage, which is illuminated with wet room lights.
rotating lights is one part of the group of works Noise / Light / Seoul. The installation was created during a 6-month artist residency at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art 국립 현대 미술관 (MMCA) in Seoul, Korea.
The Austrian Tiefengraber is internationally a fixture in the border areas of light, media and sound art. He experiments with modifications to electronic devices, depriving them of their original use in order to come to new and unforeseen results.
Stefan Tiefengraber has been part of the renowned .BEEP collection Colección Beep since this year, was awarded the Japan Media Arts Festival Excellence Award 2021 and was part of the jury of the Prix Ars Electronica in the Interactive Art+ category in 2020. He was also awarded the Hubert von Goisern Culture Prize 2020, the lab.30 Award 2018 and the Grand Prix – Takamatsu Media Art Festival 2015. His works are regularly exhibited worldwide.
